WHY SHOULD YOU CLIMB KILIMANJARO?
Mount Kilimanjaro is the highest point on the continent of Africa, making it one of the Seven Summits. The Seven Summits are the tallest mountain summits on each of the seven continents. Kilimanjaro is also the tallest freestanding mountain in the world. This means it does not fall into a mountain range but rather stands alone in the Serengeti. This feature is so unique it is even noted by the band Toto (and covered by Weezer) in their song “Africa”: “As sure as Kilimanjaro rises like Olympus above the Serengeti”.
Furthermore, it is the easiest of the seven summits to trek to the peak. Mountaineering skills are not required.
Additionally, while you are in Tanzania you are also very close to the world’s best safari parks. Try to schedule enough time for the Ngorongoro Crater and the magnificent Serengeti.
DO YOU HAVE A PASSION FOR ADVENTURE?
Over 35,000 people each year climb Kilimanjaro. However, many do not make the summit. The most important factor in making the summit is selecting a reputable operator. Many people only see the cost of the climb and go with budget operators. Despite it being a walkable mountain, Kilimanjaro is not easy and preparation is imperative. That is why picking an operator based solely on price can be risky and unsafe.
Our guides and porters have been climbing Kilimanjaro for many years. Some have made the summit over 300 times. When you climb with us, we send a team with you that is not only experienced but also friendly and skilled at their job. They want you to have the best experience you can possibly have. They work extremely hard to make sure that your adventure far exceeds anything you could have imagined.
WHY THE NAME KILIMANJARO SUNRISE?
We chose to name our company Kilimanjaro Sunrise based on the magical moment you experience when the sun rises over Mawenzi peak on summit day. After several hours of hiking toward the Crater Rim, the sun rising will lift your spirits. From there it is only a short trek to Uhuru Peak. The encouraging warmth will drive you to finish what you set out to do—Summit Kilimanjaro!

RECOMMENDED KILIMANJARO ROUTES
I n addition to Kilimanjaro treks, we also offer one to five day Tanzanian private safaris to the world’s greatest safari parks. Booking a safari after your Kilimanjaro climb is a great way to relax. You can spend most of the day watching all the wildlife Tanzania has to offer. Some of the wildlife includes the elusive tree-climbing lions, lightning-fast cheetahs, elegant giraffes, majestic elephants, pesky jackals, the maniacal baboons, and Africa’s deadliest creature the filthy hippopotamus.
It will only be your group on the safari. No other people will be added. Furthermore, we offer custom safaris in the Tanzanian Parks. We can design the perfect safari itinerary for you. Just ask.
The safari parks we visit are:
- The small yet action-packed Arusha National Park
- Tarangire National Park with its famed elephant herds
- Lake Manyara National Park with its large bird population and other marshland creatures
- The stunning Ngorongoro Crater Conservation Area teeming with all types of wildlife
- The magnificent Serengeti National Park with its famed Great Migration. Most importantly, because of the distance, you’ll need a minimum of a 4-day safari to see the Serengeti.
