We were told to bring about $800, but when it comes time to tip the guides and porters, you will feel like it isn’t enough, they did so much work and were the reason we made the summit.
When we finally reached the summit, the sense of accomplishment was overwhelming. Standing at the peak, with the sun rising over the horizon, is a moment I’ll never forget!
After our Kilimanjaro climb, we went on a 2 day safari to Tarangire and the Ngorongoro Crater. It was a seamless transition from the mountain to the savannah.
We saw elephants up close, along with lions, zebras, giraffes, and a variety of bird species. Our guide, Freddie, was incredibly knowledgeable and friendly. He pointed out different animals and shared interesting facts about their behavior and habitats. The highlight of the day was watching a family of elephants cross a river—an awe-inspiring sight.
The scenery inside the crater was breathtaking, with vast open plains, forests, and a lake with lurking hippos. Our guide’s expertise ensured that we maximized our wildlife sightings, including a rare glimpse of a black rhino.
