I just got back from the most incredible adventure ever! I climbed Mount Kilimanjaro via the Rongai Route with Kilimanjaro Sunrise, and then went on a one-day safari in Arusha National Park—and it was beyond words! If you’re thinking about doing this, DO IT. It was truly a once-in-a-lifetime experience!
The Rongai Route was everything I hoped for and more. It’s such a beautiful and peaceful trail with jaw-dropping scenery from the very first step. I loved hiking through the forests, seeing waterfalls, and even spotting some blue monkeys along the way! I felt so well taken care of by our mountain family. They know their stuff!
Our guides were AMAZING! They were so knowledgeable and supportive throughout the entire trek. They made sure we were going at the right pace, taught us all about the plants and animals we saw, and really helped build up our confidence for the big summit day. And let me tell you, that sunrise at Uhuru Peak—WOW! It was tough, but standing on the roof of Africa with the sun rising… I still get chills just thinking about it.
And I have to shout out the food—seriously, how they made such delicious meals on the mountain is beyond me. Every day we were treated to hearty, tasty meals that kept us energized and ready for the climb.
After reaching the summit, we treated ourselves to a one-day safari in Arusha National Park, and it was such a perfect way to wind down after the climb. We saw giraffes, zebras, and even flamingos chilling by the Lake. And the colobus monkeys! They were adorable, swinging through the trees.
Kilimanjaro Sunrise took care of everything for us, and our safari guide was amazing. He knew so much about the animals and the park, and it made the whole experience even more special. I wish we had time to do a longer safari.
Climbing Kilimanjaro with Kilimanjaro Sunrise was hands down the best decision I’ve ever made. If you’re dreaming about conquering Kilimanjaro, the Rongai Route is THE way to go. The scenery, the guides, the sense of accomplishment—it’s all unbeatable. And if you have time, absolutely add on a day in Arusha National Park. It’s the perfect way to end the trip!
